The nice thing about working with this team is that you’ve no sooner finished chatting about the idea of an eventbrite page and newsletter than @loudmouthman and @joannejacobs have everything done and dusted. Via the newsletter and a couple of Twitter announcements we’ve already shifted 100 tickets for the first London Amplified09 event. Cool beans.

We have confirmed that the first major Amplified event in London for 2009 will be on 24 February 2009 at Tiger Tiger in Haymarket, from 2:30 - 7:30pm.

If this is the first that you’ve heard about it then check out the eventbrite page here and grab a ticket.

This will be the first time we’ve run an event at Tiger Tiger and they’ve been very helpful to the point that we’ve also secured their venues up and down the country for the smaller local events. We still have a few places in mind that require a venue, but things nationally are shaping up very well. If you’re interested in helping to organise a local Amplified event then please check out the wiki. We’re also hoping to have discounted food and drinks during the events themselves.

The space we now have at our disposal is a little different from the NESTA venue we occupied back in November. We have plenty of room to gather all attendees together for a couple of sessions, but mostly we’ll be dividing into small conversational groups of 5 or 6. That way we can cover more ground and ensure that everyone gets a voice.

We’re implementing some of the tricks we learned at the Future of Online Video event at the ICA - so we’ll have a couple of virtual tables set up. This means rather than just sitting at home or in the office being broadcast to, anyone who wants to join in remotely can, via a chatroom and live cam. Happily the Tiger Tiger space is filled with booths that will ensure we have room for everyone. We’ve capped the tickets currently at 250 so there is still plenty of room. We were aware that some Amp08 attendees would now have the chance to set up local events rather than traveling to London, but also that as the Amplified footprint becomes larger we’ll have some new faces in the mix.

Lots more about the set up on the day as we get closer. What we’ll be doing next is to set up some space for you to throw more session topics up or revisit some of the conversations from last year. Then we need to fix up the blog a little and make integration with the wiki a little easier. Always looking for help with this stuff so do get in touch if you want to be part of the team.

If you want to see how a smaller session is generally run here’s some archived video from the ICA event. You can also read an overview of that event over on the Spinvox blog too.

So go grab a ticket and start thinking about what you’d like to talk about on February 24th.
